Protect your dog from Leptospirosis
New Jersey is seeing an uptick in Leptospirosis cases. Leptospirosis is a bacteria that lives in water or warm, wet soil. It causes a variety of flu-like symptoms, but it can develop into a more severe, life-threatening illness that affects many organs in dogs, mainly affecting the kidneys and liver. The most common way dogs become infected is by coming in contact with the urine of infected animals in stagnant water and damp ground in shaded areas. Leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease, meaning the potential is present for the bacteria to be transmitted from animals to humans.
