Q: I’ve just brought home a new puppy.  What do I need to do?

A:  Make sure your house if “puppy proof”.  For example, safeguard your house so the puppy cannot find things to ingest or destroy.  Make an appointment with your veterinarian to examine the new family member as soon as possible.  The puppy should be crated when you are sleeping or away from the house.  Your veterinarian will discuss feeding recommendations, bathroom training, and all the necessary medical requirements your new puppy will need.  Never leave the puppy alone outside.  With a good foundation, your new puppy will be a friend for life.
